Job Description
Job Title: Sr. Product Safety Engineer
Location: Halifax, NS
Salary: $85,206 – $106,389
What you’ll be doing:
- Planning, executing, and reporting on product safety activities
- Facilitating and providing expert guidance on HazID, risk analysis, and risk management processes
- Defining safety arguments and contributing to the development of the safety case
- Managing hazard logs, safety information, and assurance evidence
- Conducting specific analyses to support risk assessments
- Taking ownership of product safety assessments for major subsystems or complex technologies
Your skills and experiences:
- Knowledge and hands on experience of the HazID processes e.g Functional Failure Analysis, hazard assessment and risk management
- Experience creating a safety argument for a complex product
- Solid communication and problem solving skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at various levels alongside presentation and facilitation skills
- Registered Professional Engineer or actively working towards designation
- Knowledge of bow tie modelling processes

The Product Safety team:
The Product Safety team is a group of 40 practitioners deployed across a wide range of programmes. You might be working in a team on a large complex program or individually for one or many smaller programs. Accountability for the safety of the design solution rests with the Technical Authority. Your role is to support the Technical Authority in their decision making, create a plan of activities that will ensure that by working within the Product safety management framework, risks have been identified systematically and managed so far as is reasonable practicable. You will become exposed to a wide range of technical disciplines, be able to follow technical argument and be able to influence the integrity of the final product.
