Job Title: Principal Materials Engineer

What you’ll be doing:
· Leading a team carrying out material test analysis
· Providing expert advice on all aspects of material performance including polymers, elastomers and composites
· Reviewing proposed materials for compliance against defined standards and making recommendations on the incorporation of new materials into design processes
· Undertaking failure investigations
· Assessing material compatibility with nuclear systems Preparing and review technical documents
Your skills and experiences:
· Degree in a STEM subject
· Knowledge of material properties including polymers
· Experience of working in a materials technology environment

The Materials Technology team:
The materials technology team play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of the submarine which requires involvement in all aspects of the design. The team also work end to end across the submarine build program from the selection and purchase of materials through to the final installation and inspection. Allowing for the opportunity to build a detailed understanding of the programs and to support the business with problem solving. You will be working with a full range of non-metallic materials with the opportunity to build expertise across the team through both further training and internal knowledge sharing.
