Job title: Mechanical Technician

Location: RAF Coningsby – Shift work including nights

Salary: £37,356+ dependant on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertaking and completing tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on an aircraft or components which may include, as appropriate, Aircraft Ground Handling, component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and/or functional/system test
  • Analysing and diagnosing faults to components & assemblies, apply diagnostic skills & knowledge to effect repairs or modify equipment or suggest improvements to procedures
  • Ensuring that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and resolve any issues, escalate as required
  • Demonstrating a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately
  • Maintaining personal task competencies for working on aircraft or components
  • Undertaking support tasks within the Aircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE and Functionally Mandated procedures (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling / test equipment etc.)
  • Fixed Term – 24 month contract

 

Your skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, having completed Typhoon type or Typhoon Q course
  • Demonstrating breadth of mechanical systems experience, working on Aircraft or in workshops
  • A knowledge of the Functionally Mandated Procedures, working within a maintenance organisation on a military base
  • Ensure personal compliance with the risk assessments, SHE policies and procedures
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or Military equivalent apprenticeship / qualifications
  • Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent

The Typhoon Maintenance Facility Team:

In this role you will analyse and diagnose faults to equipment and assemblies, following diagnostic procedures and working effectively within a multifaceted diverse and dynamic operational team, to provide guidance to other team members.

You will be working on cutting edge technology supporting the typhoon fleet around the world and working directly on the Aircraft alongside RAF.
