Job Location: Samlesbury (predominantly) / Warton – On site

Working pattern: Shift-based (days, nights and weekends as required)

Skills Assessments and Interviews: Asssessments will take place on 22nd October 2026 and 5th November 2026. Attendance at one of these events is required to be considered for the role. Please bring your qualification certificates for verification, as failure to do so will prevent you from undertaking the assessment.

Role Description:

As a Skilled Mechanical Fitter / Assembler, you’ll play a key role in the manufacture and assembly of world-class aircraft programmes, including Typhoon, US Programmes and FalconWorks. Working within a highly regulated aerospace environment, you’ll undertake precision mechanical fitting and assembly activities across the production lifecycle, from detail manufacture through to final assembly.

These opportunities are available throughout 2026 and 2027, and flexibility to work shift patterns is essential.

Core Duties:

• Carrying out mechanical fitting, assembly, disassembly and inspection activities in line with engineering requirements and quality standards.
• Working from engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation to achieve high standards of workmanship and precision.
• Use of specialist tooling, measuring equipment and approved fitting techniques to support aircraft manufacture and assembly activities.
• Diagnose and rectify faults while maintaining compliance with Health & Safety, Tool Control and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) requirements.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Applicants must hold both of the following and be able to provide evidence:

• An Advanced Apprenticeship (minimum Level 3) in a mechanical discipline
• A Level 3 or above Vocational Qualification in a mechanical subject (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds)

Qualifications gained during Armed Forces service are welcomed; however, applicants must be able to provide evidence that these qualifications are equivalent to the minimum Level 3 requirements outlined above.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven mechanical fitting experience within aerospace, defence, manufacturing or another highly regulated engineering environment.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience using hand tools, calibrated tooling and precision measuring equipment, alongside a strong understanding of quality, tool control and FOD processes.
• A commitment to safe working practices and adherence to established procedures and standards.

The Air Sector Manufacturing Team:

Embedded within Air Sector Manufacturing, you’ll play an integral part in delivering high‑quality mechanical outputs that underpin programme performance. You’ll work to defined standards and approved methods, placing strong emphasis on safety, quality and consistency, while contributing to continuous improvement at shop‑floor level. The role sits within a fast‑moving and evolving area, providing opportunities to influence ways of working, strengthen operational discipline and build broad experience across Air Sector operations.
