Role Description

This role is responsible for leading and integrating Manufacturing Engineering activities across complex programmes, ensuring manufacturing capability, maturity and readiness are delivered in line with programme objectives. The successful candidate will coordinate Manufacturing Engineering planning, governance, deliverables and technical outputs, supporting programme execution to agreed cost, quality and schedule commitments.

Acting as the Manufacturing Engineering focal point within the programme, you will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Project Management and DAREO stakeholders. The role includes coordinating the creation and delivery of Manufacturing Engineering artefacts and philosophies, managing risks, assumptions, dependencies and interfaces, and driving continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice across the programme lifecycle.

Core Duties

•Lead the delivery and integration of Manufacturing Engineering activities across complex national and international programmes, ensuring capability, maturity and readiness are achieved in line with programme objectives

•Own Manufacturing Engineering planning, governance and delivery, driving execution of work packages and artefacts, defining deliverables/definitions of done and technical outputs to meet cost, quality and schedule commitments

•Act as a focal point for Manufacturing Engineering within the programme, influencing decisions and aligning Manufacturing Engineering needs with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Project Management and DAREO stakeholders

•Drive Manufacturing Engineering maturity through technical reviews, robust management of risks, assumptions, dependencies and interfaces across the programme lifecycle

•Drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned, promoting best practice and supporting successful programme execution to cost, quality and schedule targets

Essential skills

• Strong understanding of Manufacturing Engineering and programme delivery activities within complex engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering, manufacturing or programme integration activities.
• Experience managing plans, deliverables, interfaces and dependencies within programme or project environments.
• Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering lifecycle activities including industrialisation, product development and production delivery.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and coordination skills across Engineering, Manufacturing and Programme teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and support delivery across integrated workstreams and complex stakeholder environments.

The Future Combat Air System (FCAS) Manufacturing Engineering Team

The Future Combat Air System (FCAS) Manufacturing Engineering team supports both the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) and UK National FCAS programmes, helping to define the manufacturing approach for a sixth-generation combat aircraft. Working in an international environment alongside Edgewing and colleagues in Japan and Italy, the team contributes to the development of future air platforms while ensuring manufacturing requirements are considered from the earliest stages of product development.

The team collaborates closely with Engineering, Technology and Manufacturing stakeholders across the Air sector to develop credible and effective manufacturing solutions. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence complex programmes during the early phases of the engineering lifecycle, providing exposure to strategic decision-making, programme development and the future of advanced aerospace manufacturing.
