Management Accountant

Role Purpose
Deliver an independent review of the cost and performance of the business area, providing sound financial support and advice, maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and evaluating processes to ensure that robust, relevant and adequate financial controls are in place.
This role forms part of a Financial Planning and Analyst – Cost Performance team, based in Kuala Lumpur.
Core Duties
- Deliver accurate and consistent management reporting information to meet the needs of the business within the required timescales of the business unit and the wider group
- Monitor financial performance, providing independent and robust financial challenge
- Reconcile the financial reports to the source ledgers to ensure integrity of the data provided
- Initiate continual review & improvement of processes and procedures to ensure that the financial control requirements of the business are met
- Maintain strong working relationships with business partners and own team
- Resolve problems to ensure management reporting timescales are met
- Provide financial support to resolve highly complex issues
- Take responsibility for decisions which will have a significant impact on business performance
Leadership:
- May mentor junior team members
Profit and Loss
- Full end to end ownership of the P&L packs
- Prepare and analyse variances that arises from the P&L packs
- Check, maintain, prepare and process Accruals, Prepayments and Recharge journals for your relevant PC
- Prepare and process any ad hoc/ correction journals that is required from the business
Forecasting/ Budgeting/ Reporting
- Support and assist in compiling information required for forecasting/ budgeting
- Prepare and analyse reporting packs as requested from the business
Balance Sheet
- Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations relating to Accruals and Prepayments
- Prepare and analyse monthly Balance sheet packs for review
- Investigate any risk and opportunities arising from the Balance Sheet reconciliation
Others
- Prepares and assist with liaising with Order Management team to set up WBS codes
- Prepares and assist with liaising with Business Partners to close WBS codes
- Prepares and assist with liaising with Procurement to close POs
- Supporting the Cost accounting team with other tasks as required
What we are looking for
Functional Knowledge
- Understand and apply Finance Policy Manual (FPM) Accounting Policies
- Understand and support delivery of Finance Control Framework (FCF) compliance
- Understand and ensure Audit Compliance
- Develop a good working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office (excel/ word/ powerpoint), Adaptive (Office Connect) and Cognos (Cognos Café)
- Understand the end to end Cost accounting processes and key controls
- Understand and apply work instructions and reporting timetables
