Job Description

Job title: Maintenance Electrician

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (full time on-site)

Salary: £37,318.00 + Uplift shift allowance

What you’ll be doing:

  • Following relevant instructions, technical drawings for machine tools and any other specifications
  • Completing planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems, components and site assets
  • Carrying out fault finding and testing activities
  • Using associated tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Understanding of and working to the building/electrical regulations and legislation
  • Working safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines 

Your skills and experiences: 

Essential:

  • Time served (Electrical/Technical apprenticeship to NVQ3 or equivalent)
  • Proficient in diagnosing & repairing electrical faults
  • Ability to read and interpret technical/machine drawings
  • Proven experience as a maintenance electrician or similar role within the industrial/commercial industry

Desirable:

  • A knowledge & understanding of health & safety regulations
  • 18th Edition BS7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations – IET Wiring Regulations
  • Experience in maintenance of assets such as cranes, machinery & lighting systems

The Maintenance Team

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will work directly within a team of Electricians serving the department and supporting the department’s skilled trade groups. You will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders on various projects and providing your expertise on a range of technical issues. You will also work alongside other trade groups.

The role provides an opportunity to complete your qualification and as well as necessary training. Your success with be recognised by the management, enabling career development and exciting progression opportunities to technical, Team Leader or Engineering roles. 

We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
