Job Description:

In this role you will oversee a team responsible for supporting material, tool, and product movements within a high-rate manufacturing environment. You will ensure resources, processes, and operational activities are effectively coordinated to support production requirements, while driving team performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will play a key role in enabling manufacturing delivery through robust leadership, planning, and logistics management.

Core duties:

  • Oversee, develop, and guide a logistics team operating across multiple shift patterns, ensuring workloads, resources, and priorities are effectively aligned to business requirements
  • Govern the movement of materials, parts, tools, and finished products across the business, ensuring compliance with tool control, audit, and shipment requirements
  • Monitor team performance, capability, wellbeing, and attendance, ensuring appropriate training, competence, and compliance standards are maintained
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure materials and tools are available in line with production schedules and operational priorities
  • Champion Operational Excellence and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) behaviours through continuous improvement activities, team engagement, and methodical leadership

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable leadership experience within a logistics, manufacturing, operational, or production environment, with responsibility for developing people, monitoring performance, and driving results
  • Experience building effective relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, influencing outcomes and communicating effectively at all levels of an organisation
  • Knowledge of logistics, production control, material management, and associated business processes, ideally within a manufacturing, aerospace, or engineering environment
  • Experience using ERP systems and operational reporting tools to support planning, performance management, and decision-making
  • Good understanding of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) principles and risk management within a logistics or operational environment; a professional logistics qualification (e.g. APICS CPIM or CILT) is desirable or willingness to obtain

The Logistics Team:

The Logistics Team plays a critical role in supporting one of the Air sector’s largest defence programmes, ensuring materials, tools, and products are available where and when they are needed to support manufacturing operations. Working across production, planning, and wider business functions, the team drives efficient material flow, operational performance, and continuous improvement. It offers opportunities to develop leadership, logistics, and operational management experience within a complex and highly collaborative manufacturing environment.
