Job Location: The role is onsite based in either Adelaide or Melbourne working on the Defence owned JORN classified network managed by BAE Systems Australia. Relocation assistance is offered to interstate candidates willing to relocate to Adelaide. This position offers a 9 day fortnight flexible working option.

Role Description:
We are building something extraordinary in the High Frequency (HF) technology space and are looking for Linux Systems Engineers to join us on this journey and to work on the world leading Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar Network. You will be working with exciting technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Satellite, Ansible, OpenShift, Kubernetes to develop new capabilities and to administer and maintain the existing JORN network.
Core Duties:
- Use Red Hat Satellite and Ansible to manage, design and deploy Linux changes into the JORN network
- Develop and implement engineering changes within a defined scope of work, including analysis of requirements, design, reviews, implementation, testing and signoff in accordance with the ICT Engineering Development Plan and other applicable plans and processes
- Creating and updating engineering documentation including designs, drawings, manuals and associated artefacts
- Demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency
- Working within a team, undertake engineering activities within own competence without day-to-day guidance or supervision, including liaison with customers and stakeholders as appropriate
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
- Foster a culture of openness, responsibility and consistent correctness and completeness
- Work within agreed project technical, cost and schedule constraints
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve own practices. Be aware of and contribute to relevant BAE Systems Australia engineering communities of interest
- Occasional out of hours work will be required and the possibility of travel periodically to remote sites for periods of up to two weeks and on occasions longer
Essential Skills:
- Extensive background with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and a good understanding of engineering practices and methods is considered essential, ideally within defence industry
- Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and administration of Linux operating systems and environments
- Demonstrated comprehensive experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Satellite and Ansible
- Experience in Red Hat OpenShift, Containerisation, Kubernetes are an advantage
- RHCE or RHCSA certifications are an advantage
- Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodology
- Able to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
- Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders within the project
- Proven ability to function confidently within a project team environment
- Demonstrated problem solving, systems analysis, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV2 security clearance
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
