About the OPPORTUNITY:
We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Lead Technician (Auxiliaries) to join our Hobart Class Destroyer Capability Enhancement, Test & Commissioning (T&C) Program on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the T&C Operations Manager, you will be accountable for the installation, repair, commissioning and maintenance of systems and equipment and supervising and coordinating the daily activities of a technical team. This role is based at our Osborne Shipyard office and has the option of a 9-day fortnight.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing input into the design, development and implementation of the ships auxiliary equipment and systems
- Conduct installation, set to work, acceptance testing and maintaining the system and equipment against technical requirements.
- Provide oversite and technical Subject Matter Expert knowledge for T&C
- Development an prepare accurate test procedures and reports
- Provide expert technical and hands on services the project
- Provide input to planning and maintenance of schedules
- Defect analysis, resolution and provision of detailed technical reports
- Contribute to the analysis on complex technical problems to create solutions where precedent may not exist
- Make decisions and facilitate problem-solving guided by policies, procedures & business plan
- Working with minimum supervision & manage own time to address competing task priorities
- Comply with requirements of BAE Systems Australia Quality Systems as they relate to areas of activity
- Provide input to employee performance evaluations and coach team member performance
- Promote and encourage co-operation within the team
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve team practices
About YOU:
- Extensive experience in the T&C environment working on ships auxiliary equipment and systems
- Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical) trade in an Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience in operating or maintaining auxiliary equipment such as Reverse Osmosis systems, Sewage Treatment Plants, and Sea Water Cooling systems.
- Extensive experience reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
- Experience with the installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with creating and executing Computer-Based Commissioning Documentation, Risk Assessments and Work Instructions.
- Available for travel (interstate and offshore) to undertake installation or maintenance tasks
- Analyses situations, identifying opportunities for improvement
- Effectively communicates with all stakeholder groups, addressing issues objectively, professionally, and in a timely manner
- Works under minimal supervision, managing time to address competing task priorities, ensuring completion in accordance with assigned budget, schedule, and priority
- Persists in exceeding job requirements
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, essential to the role
