Job Description

Job Title: Lead Quality Engineer – Supplier Improvement 

Location: Barrow – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

 Salary: £45,628+ depending on skills and experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading on engagement with suppliers to embed APQP, PPAP, and FAIR processes
  • Presentations within the company and at suppliers including training and coaching sessions on APQP and processes, tools and techniques
  • Developing, maintaining, and managing key collaborative relationships in the business both internally and externally
  • Understanding and deploying quality engineering techniques in new programmes
  • Driving maturity on APQP within our supplier base
  • Leading & supporting LFE Quality Lessons Learnt forums

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • APQP,/PPAP (AS9145) or FAIR experience preferably in a Manufacturing environment  (First Article Inspection Reports – AS9102 or AS9103)
  • Project Management experience
  • Analytical Skills (trend analysis etc)
  • Presentation skills and experience
  • Manufacturing / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering / Quality Management experience or Equivalent

Desirable:

  • Demonstrable Quality Engineering Project skills (Lean Six Sigma advantageous etc)
  • Change Management experience in Manufacturing environment
  • Desirable skills in training of new processes and toolsets e.g. Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Measurement Systems Analysis

The Supplier Improvement Team:

As a member of the Supplier Improvement team, you will be working principally within the SSNA program. Working collaboratively with suppliers the role will include travelling across the UK to a range of sites and facilities and maintain regular contact with suppliers to help support progressing improvements and streamlining processes. Travel will also be required on occasions within Europe and the rest of the world. There will be opportunities to meet and build relations with senior stakeholders and develop yourself to progress your career with BAE Systems.
