Job Title: Lead Project Controller – Cost

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £58,000 depending on skills and experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Facilitating project controls process deployment in support of high value projects across the full project lifecycle
  • Applying your specialist understanding of project controls techniques and knowledge of project controls toolsets (i.e. EVM, Risk, Change) to produce project controls deliverables
  • Organising the collation of programme performance metrics from various data sources to report against cost, schedule, milestone delivery and other KPIs and supporting the facilitation/chairing of meetings
  • Providing support to the Project Managers / Control Account Managers to oversee cost, schedule and quality with associated data and metrics where required, as well as support to resolve emergent project issues and mitigate risk
  • Performing/facilitating quarterly cost reviews (estimate at completion) and resource profiling process – being accountable for specific outputs and/or providing support to the process
  • Supporting the risk and opportunity process on a project, including reviewing contingencies where required
  • Guiding the way on various project outputs that require a high level of problem solving, professional knowledge and assessment such as customer reporting, collating finance, planning and cost outputs in to a consolidated view and message
  • Helping manage costs, establishing compliance controls, measuring earned value, predicting performance, and achieving project success

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Comprehensive project controls experience demonstrated in a cost control capacity
  • Excellent understanding of Project Controls processes including Project Reporting, EVM, Cost Management, Scheduling, Risk & Opportunity Management and Baseline Change Management
  • Experience in using Project Controls toolsets for reporting such a Tableau, PowerBI
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex multiple data sources of management information and present to senior stakeholders with corrective actions
  • Experience in using Cobra or similar cost control toolsets

Desirable:

  • Experience of coaching other in project controls methodologies
  • APM-Q or relevant degree qualification

The Naval Ships Project Control team:

Joining the Project Controls team as a Lead Project Controller you will be supporting the Head of Project Controls and Planning across one of our complex major engineering programmes (Type 26, Canadian River Class Destroyer, or Hunter Class). You will get to work with a range of internal departments including engineering, procurement, and production to name a few.
