Job title: IM&T Practitioner – Cyber Security

Location: Barrow-In-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: From £53,000 depending on skills and experience 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Applying security standards and best practices relating to IT/OT, adapting and tailoring where required to ensure a secure and compliant estate commensurate to the risk
  • Advising and supporting Operations Engineers in the secure operation, ensuring that the business IT/OT estate is both protected and enabled to deliver
  • Ensuring that required monitoring, maintenance and updates are applied appropriately to ensure that the capability is safe and secure throughout the IT/OT lifecycle
  • Undertaking ongoing risk analysis and Assurance accreditation roles specific to the IT/OT domain and application of appropriate security controls in line with best practices and Security policies

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Good understanding of IT technology with working experience of enterprise.
  • Cyber security experience & understanding of compliance (CCNA, CISSP etc)
  • Knowledgeable of IT Security principles and how they are applied in IT/OT domain.
  • Self-motivated and able to address challenges, through tailoring of standards and application of risk management principles.
  • Strong team player. Able to work with others and effectively deliver agreed outputs.  Skilled in communicating technical concepts to non-specialists.
  • Stakeholder engagement experience operational/facilities/Zoned areas.

Desirable

  • Former experience working within the IT/OT assurance landscape.
  • Understanding of MOD defence sector.
  • NIST 800-53 / 82 and or Defstan 05-138 Security Framework understanding.

The IT Cyber Security team:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an IT Cyber Security Specialist within Submarines, to support the security of Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) Assurance within the Submarines business.  As part of a small team, you will ensure that OT and IT systems align to Security policies to meet the needs of the business. 

A protect to enable mind-set, with strong experience and technical skills in the secure configuration of technology and are key elements of this role. As an Cyber Security specialist, you will engage with both stakeholders from IT, Operations and other departments that rely upon OT and IT infrastructure by developing and collaborating with a network of contacts across the wider BAE Systems group in order to share best practice in this domain and align with accreditation.
