Job Location: This role is based in Adelaide SA or Melbourne, VIC.

Role Description:

The ILS Discipline Lead is responsible for analysing logistics support data and identifying trends across equipment and systems to ensure effective operation and sustainment. The role provides specialist input into solution design and development, delivers evidence-based recommendations on reliability and sustainment issues, and supports Engineering and Technical Authorities in decision-making.

This position also leads small teams, mentors engineering staff, and ensures all outputs align with customer and end-user operational requirements while applying sound professional judgement and best practice in logistics support analysis.

Core Duties:

  • Lead logistics support analysis activities, including RCM, MTA, and LORA, to inform sustainment strategy and system design
  • Analyse equipment and system data to assess performance, condition, and historical trends
  • Conduct risk assessments and apply modelling and performance evaluation to identify reliability and supportability issues
  • Develop evidence-based conclusions and provide recommendations to improve system reliability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality reports in line with project schedules and requirements
  • Make sound decisions within own delegation, applying professional judgement and technical expertise while supporting stakeholders and Engineering Authorities

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (degree, diploma, or technical certification) or equivalent industry experience
  • Proven experience in analysing, reviewing, and reporting technical assessment data related to the mechanical and/or electrical health of systems and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and reviewing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) products to support system sustainment and performance
  • Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of systems within a defence environment or similar technical industry
  • Proven ability to lead small teams of specialised analysts or equivalent experience
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations.
