Role Description

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced ICT Team Leader to join our Aukus Program, based in Adelaide (Flinders Street). The ICT Team Lead provides leadership and direction to a team of technical professionals, ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure and efficient IT services in support of the SSN-AUKUS program objectives.

The role partners with key stakeholders across the business to deliver a customer-centric service that adds real value, while ensuring the effective governance of core IT systems throughout their lifecycle. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Team Leader plays a critical role in aligning IT service delivery with business outcomes

Core Duties:

  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of technical professionals to foster a high-performing, customer-focused culture
  • Drive a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace environment
  • Deliver agreed service levels and outcomes within time and budget constraints
  • Manage vendors and contract staff across the lifecycle of IT systems support
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and DDC teams (including UK stakeholders)
  • Ensure IT systems meet customer needs while effectively managing expectations
  • Proactively identify, assess and manage risks and issues relating to business systems
  • Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, policies, security requirements and regulatory obligations
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimise service delivery and cost efficiency
  • Ensure the availability, performance and security of systems supporting business operations
  • Contribute to budget management in line with financial delegations
  • Provide direct line management and leadership to team members
  • Translate business objectives into effective, secure IT solutions

About YOU

  • Experience working in an ICT environment, including exposure to networking, operating systems, and applications.
  • Demonstrated experience leading small to medium-sized technical teams
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop individuals and teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills that deliver business outcomes while maintaining relationships
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and balance customer and business needs
  • Understanding of governance frameworks related to IT systems, software implementation and enhancements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects or programs across cost, schedule and quality
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate plans into actionable outcomes
  • High level of resilience, adaptability and effectiveness in dynamic environments
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain an NV1 clearance.

SSN AUKUS

In early 2024, the Australian Government selected BAE Systems and ASC Pty Ltd to build Australia’s new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines in a significant development in the AUKUS trilateral security pact between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. This program will focus on developing advanced submarine capabilities, integrating cutting-edge technology, and fostering international cooperation among Australia, the UK, and the US.
