Job Title    Graduate Submarines Site Engineer

Location    Barrow (Cumbria) 

We offer relocation support packages for this role (Barrow-in-Furness based roles), subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Graduate programme you will be required to attend your site up to 4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

What you will be doing
As a Site Engineering Authority (SEA) (Nuclear) graduate you will be joining an exciting and expanding team to provide management, governance and assurance to the BAE Barrow site nuclear assets and buildings. As an SEA graduate you will be tasked with providing general engineering oversight to both identified risks and emergent issues as well as being heavily involved in the Site Redevelopment Programme and associated projects. As part of this team you will play a key role in ensuring the nuclear assets are safe, legal and compliant – both to BAE standards and external governing bodies.

Within the Site Engineering Authority (Nuclear) you will also support both current and future boat built programme throughout the full lifecycle to ensure asset and building availability for key deadlines and programme milestones.

Duties and Responsibilities
•    Providing independent engineering oversight across all nuclear site and facilities.
•    Developing through life management plans for assets and buildings which contribute to the nuclear site licence.
•    Production of technical requirements, specifications, documents and designs to support various engineering and site and facilities projects.
•    Providing technical engineering advice and support to maintenance, operations and project teams. Providing technical assurance to both internal and external governing bodies to prove compliance to regulations and legislation.
•    Assist in identifying business risks and developing engineering solutions to mitigate and manage risks.
•    Working with stakeholders at all levels of the business to meet programme demands and partaking in design reviews for a range of engineering projects.
•    Understanding the role the team plays in ensuring the compliance to the relevant nuclear legislation and regulations.

Skills

Export Control/Security

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
