Job Title    Graduate Trials and Commissioning Engineer
Location    Scotstoun (Glasgow)
BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Graduate Programme you will be required to attend your site 5 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.
Salary        £34,000 + £2000 Welcome bonus.

We design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations around the world.  We are the only provider of complex warships and their combat managements to the UK Royal Navy’s surface fleet. What you will be doing
As a trials and commissioning graduate you will play a pivotal part in setting to work a variety of complex systems on Naval Ships, utilising technical engineering skills whilst undertaking a broad range of dynamic, functional and performance test and commissioning activities. Commissioning graduates will carry out fault diagnosis into operational defects and develop defect rectification solutions, utilise a variety of common and specialist test equipment to accurately test and record equipment performance levels, complying with commissioning documentation, procedures, risk assessments and method statements. Gaining exposure to the entire project lifecycle, you’ll play a key role in both maintaining our existing systems and testing new technologies.

This may include:
• Supporting the development of strategies to ensure that systems are successfully tested and commissioned so that they fully satisfy the customer and business needs/requirements
• Capturing and analysing requirements in order to understand the customer/business needs and the context in which the system will be used
• Carry out fault diagnoses into operational defects
• Develop defect rectification solutions
• Supplying engineering advice and support to Operations, OEM’s and other functions
• Understanding the emergent properties of a system to support trade-offs, optimisation, risk reduction and testing
• Supporting the identification of safety hazards and the assessment and mitigation of safety risk
• Conduct all activities in a professional manner delivering engineering tasks to agreed time, cost and quality to meet project milestones
• Drafting technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that information can be successfully communicated with recipients
• Maintain accurate records of all work in accordance with relevant extant procedures 
• Liaise with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers as required 
• Liaise with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, ILS and other internal functions as required.
• Continually develop your systems capabilities to ensure knowledge and skills keep pace with best practice
• Articulate and present arguments clearly, logically and simply

Skills
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical engineering.
