What you’ll be doing:
- Leading and managing a small team of capable Designers for all related tasks
- Working closely with other engineering disciplines and functions, supplier and customer areas, fostering a team-working and collaborative product development environment.
- Producing and issuing Airframe engineering design data to meet project requirements in line with design standards and procedures, whilst maintaining quality, cost and schedule adherence
- Verifying design data after completion and prior to a formal independent check to ensure compliance with project standards
- Identifying product technical risks and associated mitigation plans
- Evaluating and resolving design problems and supporting the generation of resulting modifications and changes
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Experience in an Airframe Design role, or similar product design experiences
- HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Proficiency with a CAD system, along with experience in a configuration control toolset (PLM) system
- Experience in leading and guiding other Design staff
- Experience of managing Design tasks to meet engineering design requirements and programme requirements
- Experience in verifying and checking other engineer’s designs
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary integrated product development environment, influencing adjacent disciplines
- Experience of working with internal/external customers, suppliers and partners

BAE Systems have exciting new opportunities for experienced Airframe Design Engineers to join our teams at Warton, Samlesbury and Brough with the opportunity to work flexibly whilst effectively leading and managing a small team.
The Air (UK) Design Engineering Discipline is responsible for producing the Airframe design definition and physical product design dataset delivery for manufacturing and through-life upgrades, based on a set of configured customer requirements.
