Job Description

Job Title: Deputy Security Lead

Location: Rochester, Kent

Salary: Circa £34,000 depending on experience

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Liaising with external accreditors, authorities, Counter Terrorism Security Advisor, law enforcement, and providing security advice and guidance
  • Assisting with and conducting investigations into security incidents and managing Security Aspects Letters
  • Preparing and delivering Security and Travel Security briefings, as well as Security Awareness Training
  • Supporting the management of Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Detection Systems, and conducting security surveys and audits
  • Deputising for the Security Manager and providing support to the Site Security Office and Security Guard Force
  • Advising on vetting processes, including in-house and National Security Vetting, and conducting out-of-hours inspections

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Proven experience in a security-related role, covering people, infrastructure, information, and assets
  • Familiarity with UK Data Protection and Freedom of Information (FOI) requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently articulate security requirements to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience managing security systems, with exposure to conducting risk assessments and investigations

Desirable:

  • Experience with UK Government Security Policy and third-party security requirements, including those of the US Government, NATO, and other international bodies

The Security Team:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Security Lead at our BAE Systems site in Rochester. In this role, you will support the implementation of security requirements across the Electronic Systems Business in the UK, ensuring the protection of our people, infrastructure, information, and assets. You’ll assist with managing security systems like Access Control, CCTV, and Intruder Detection, and contribute to investigations, briefings, and audits.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
