Job Title: Data Governance Manager

Location: Preston or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £69,000 depending on experience and skills

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensuring the continued development of Shared Services data governance capability and services to support the continuous improvement and effective management of our data
  • Developing the Data Governance team and working effectively with Shared Services Data Owners and Stewards and the wider business
  • Strategic direction and development of data governance within Shared Services to meet the wider strategic objectives of Group IM&T and BAE Systems
  • Effective prioritisation of data governance development and activity to meet strategic and tactical objectives within Data & Analytics, Shared Services, and wider BAE Systems
  • Defining and maintaining Shared Services data governance controls including procedures, processes, methods, guideline, and definitions
  • Providing data governance and management advice and guidance to business teams to influence, facilitate and implement data improvement, quality, and security
  • Developing effective relationships with Shared Services Senior Leadership Team, Data and Analytics, Data Owners and Stewards, data consumers, Group Function IM&T and other Sector and Function data management teams

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Understanding of data governance and management including data management development and deployment
  • Excellent understanding of the business application of information and data to deliver business value
  • Experienced stakeholder management with the ability to work at the strategic level and providing data governance leadership and direction
  • Ability to translate technical issues in data management to business impacts in relation to the data governance domains e.g. data quality, definition, usage and control
  • Experience defining, implementing, and driving data governance through an organisation

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Industry practice on the definition, assurance and application of information and data in complex organisations
  • Experience of data management and governance tools and applications (e.g., data quality, data catalogue)
  • Knowledge of the data landscape within the business and how data sets may interact
  • Data Management Association, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) qualification
