About the OPPORTUNITY
We have exciting opportunities for Test & Commissioning Technicians to join our Combat Systems & Integration line of business based at SA- Osborne Naval Shipyard & SA- Mawson Lakes, reporting to the CSI-IPT Test and Commissioning Lead.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
This role is responsible for the installation, integration, testing and commissioning of complex naval systems, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery in demanding integration environments. The position plays a key role in supporting Test and Commissioning activities, resolving technical issues, and contributing to the performance of critical naval platforms, with requirements for autonomous work, collaboration, and interstate or offshore deployment as needed
Key responsibilities include:
- Install, test, integrate, and commission Combat Systems equipment and systems.
- Identify, troubleshoot and fix faults, documenting issues and outcomes clearly.
- Carry out system testing to confirm equipment meets required performance and safety standards.
- Provide hands-on technical support during test and commissioning activities.
- Prepare and update clear technical documents such as test plans, reports, and procedures.
- Support planning activities and provide input into schedules and system designs.
- Act as a key technical contact for specific tasks and support continuous improvement. Work independently on day-to-day technical tasks while working closely with the wider project team.
About YOU
- Cert III in Electronics and Communication or Cert III in Engineering or other related field.
- Strong technical expertise within the relevant domain and a solid understanding of engineering systems and equipment.
- Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Confident team player who actively contributes to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of the quality, safety, and timely delivery of your work.
- Effective written and verbal communicator, able to engage professionally with engineers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Analytical and improvement-focused, with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
- Willing and available to travel interstate or offshore to support installation and maintenance activities.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
