The Configuration & Governance Engineer provides the execution-level
governance, configuration control and documentation management required to
support QTI’s Training Governance Model, TSMS and Training Cell. The role
ensures all courseware, technical documentation, training packages and safety
artefacts are:
  • Configuration-controlled
    and traceable
  • Aligned
    with engineering changes and safety controls
  • Structured
    for audit readiness (BAE Systems, TSMS, ISO, QAF EOMS)
  • Compliant
    with TEMP, PROQ28102, SP21 and TEPIDFOIL principles.
  • Prepared
    for migration to a dedicated Training Management System (TMS) in 2025/26

This role is critical to BAE Systems’ responsibilities as Design
Authority for QTI training outputs.

Key Responsibilities:
Configuration Management & Courseware Governance:
  • Maintain
    controlled baselines for all lesson plans, assessments, courseware,
    Training Cell packages and supporting materials.
  • Administer
    courseware change control processes, including impact assessments,
    approvals, release notes and configuration status accounting.
  • Ensure
    version control and document numbering align with TEMP, PROQ28102 and
    SP21.
  • Maintain
    the single source of truth for training documentation on SharePoint.
TSMS, SHE & Product Safety Integration:
  • Link
    hazard logs (HL-001 SHE, HL-002 Product Safety, HL-003 PSec) with training
    materials, operator/maintainer packages and procedures.
  • Ensure
    hazard mitigations, emergency arrangements and SHE controls are reflected
    in courseware.
  • Support
    TSMS evidence generation and audit readiness.
  • Ensure
    training artefacts support safety arguments for devices, workshops and
    facilities.
Training Cell Standardisation & Competence Documentation:
  • Develop
    and maintain standardised Training Cell operator and maintainer packages
    (courseware, manuals, logbooks, task sheets and assessments).
  • Maintain
    controlled competency/training documentation for maintainers, operators
    and instructors.
  • Ensure
    training materials align with engineering configuration and TSMS controls.
Engineering & Technical Documentation Control:
  • Maintain
    configuration control of manuals, SSOWs, procedures and
    engineering-related training documentation.
  • Track
    engineering changes, deviations and device modifications to ensure
    training content accuracy.
  • Work
    with the Engineering Lead and SMEs to align technical and training
    documentation.

Digital Transformation & TMS Preparation:

  • Develop
    structured SharePoint libraries and metadata standards to support TMS
    migration.
  • Prepare
    configuration baselines and training artefacts for transition to the
    dedicated TMS.
  • Ensure
    documentation governance supports long-term digital training delivery.
Audit, Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Maintain
    documentation and evidence for ISO, QAF EOMS, TSMS and BAE internal
    audits.
  • Support
    TRRs by preparing configuration and TEPIDFOIL evidence packs.
  • Identify
    and implement process improvements in governance, documentation and
    configuration control.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience
    in configuration management, document control, engineering governance or
    quality assurance.
  • Strong
    understanding of configuration and documentation control in a technical or
    safety-critical environment (defence/aerospace preferred).
  • High
    competence in SharePoint and structured document libraries.
  • Experience
    supporting ISO 9001, QMS or similar quality/safety frameworks.
  • Excellent
    organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity
    with BAE Systems governance.
  • Experience
    in technical training environments.
  • Experience supporting or implementing a Training
    Management System.
