Job Title: Business Development Manager (Defence)
Location: Taipei, Taiwan.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Assist BAE Systems in identifying and developing opportunities within Taiwan’s defence and security market
- Establish and nurture partnerships with relevant Taiwanese industries to foster technological collaboration
- Identify requirements and prioritise technology and procurement projects in Taiwan, leveraging expertise in Taiwan’s defence policies and the Group’s capabilities and programmes
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Group’s industrial strategies in relation to Taiwan
- Provide professional advice and insights to address technical, supply chain, and procurement challenges for the Group
- Offer experienced guidance and support for commercial and contractual engagements with Taiwan’s Ministry of Defence
Your skills and experiences:
- Solid experience and understanding of Taiwan’s defence industry, government operations, procurement, and supply chain practices; technical background is advantageous
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in defence, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin/Chinese and English
- Military experience, especially in Taiwan’s Navy or Air Force, is highly desirable
- Government or embassy experience in Taiwan would be a significant advantage
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree advantageous
The Business Development Team:
Join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Taiwan, based in Taipei, where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our business within Taiwan’s defence sector. As a Business Development Manager, you will be an integral part of a close-knit team, collaborating closely with Business Units to drive customer engagement. Defence experience is essential for this role, as you will spend around 70-80% of your time travelling to meet with customers locally, with occasional overseas travel for trade shows. This role also offers the opportunity to participate in out-of-hours activities, such as hosting and entertaining customers. If you have experience with PRC politics and policies, Taiwan Navy or military experience, or experience working with the Taiwan government, we would love to hear from you.
