Job Title: Bid Manager

Location: Rochester, Kent. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role. 

Salary: £56,000 – £60,000 depending on skills and experience 

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist both the Bids & Proposals and Strategy Lead in ensuring the smooth operation of the team and oversee project execution teams within the product line to craft compelling customer proposals
  • For large and complex bids, collaborate with the capture team to establish a winning strategy before the formal release of Bid requirements, utilising best practice business capture processes, techniques, and methodologies
  • Take ownership of specific bids, campaigns, and related tasks, ensuring delivery within budget
  • Develop and articulate a comprehensive bid plan that outlines how the strategies and tactics formulated during the capture phase will be implemented in the bid, managing its timely delivery in accordance with established bid processes and procedures
  • Plan, manage, and lead the entire bid team’s activities from the initial stages through solution development, costing/pricing, proposal preparation, submission, and contract negotiation, resulting in the successful contract award and handover to the Project execution team
  • Undertake occasional travel as required for business purposes, both within the UK and overseas

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A demonstrated track record in Bid Management, with solid knowledge of capture, commercial and financial skills
  • Proven ability to take ownership, remain goal-oriented, and exhibit strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Exceptional at cultivating stakeholder relationships and a confident presenter

Desirable:

  • Understanding of engineering development and lifecycle
  • Project Management experience within the defence industry
  • Experience in team leadership, with the ability to inspire and guide team members towards achieving common goals
