Aircrew Training Specialist

Responsibilities
· Liaise with PTS for the safe, efficient and timely operation of the hypobaric chambers and emergency hyperbaric chamber, centrifuge, disorientation trainer, night vision trainer, pressure breathing trainer and ejection seat trainer.
· Work with PTS in the weekly timetabling and smooth running of physiological training courses.
· Raising and maintaining SOPs for all training equipment.
· Design relevant practical training profiles for the different aircrew physiological courses in partnership with the AMS.
· Conduct training sessions for aircrew in the hypobaric chamber and demonstrate the centrifuge and disorientation training profiles during aircrew physiological training courses and formal Medical Boards.
· Debrief aircrew students after the physiological training courses.
· Revise and redesign aircrew physiological courses in partnership with the AMS.
· Act as liaison between the AFAMC and flying squadrons.
· Act as liaison between the AFAMC and the various Service headquarters.
· Draw up the AFAMC training calendar as per Service requirements.
· Ensuring due diligence about health and safety in the training section.
· Supervise the scheduling of periodic maintenance by outside contractors for all AFAMC training equipment.
· Maintain an inventory of training equipment and advise the customer on maintenance, replacement, and acquisition of new equipment in line with international trends.
· Prepare and deliver formal lectures on aircraft systems, basic air navigation, disorientation, night flying and other topics as may be required from time to time.
· Assist the Director during formal visits from Service and MSD headquarters.
· Ensuring the serviceability and maintaining records of the various training aids and safety equipment held at the AFAMC through the PTS.
· Assist the AMS in running the various training equipment during the aircrew physiological training courses.
· Develop Research and Development (R&D) and strive continuously to modernise AFAMC in line with international trends.
Job Requirements:
· Essential:
· Current or ex-military pilot or weapons system operator (WSO), preferably fast jet.
· Should have completed aircrew physiological training at least once at the Armed Forces Aeromedical Centre (AFAMC) during career as aircrew and have a basic understanding of aviation physiology.
· Applicants must be fit for active hypobaric and centrifuge operations as may be required.
· Excellent communication skills
· Desirable:
· Previous experience of aircrew physiological training at a recognised military aeromedical centre.
· Previous experience of conducting aircrew instruction on aircraft simulator.
· Completion of an appropriate instructional techniques course.
· Qualification and experience in Crew Resource Management (CRM) training.
· Experience of military operational deployment as aircrew.
· Experience of supervisory role in a flying squadron.
· Experience of military Staff duties.
· Bachelor degree or above in military or technical sciences.
