What you will be doing The NDE role is approximately 80% practical and 20% desk based, this role has a high variety of inspection which allows for continuous growth of learning and skills. NDE is a vital part of Quality Control in BAE Systems Submarines, it allows inspectors to identify defects that could be detrimental to the product safety of the submarine for the Royal Navy if left undetected, and help ensure these inspection are rectified to make sure all inspections meet the requirements of the standards and fit for purpose. You will also be involved in technology road shows for the department, showcasing disciplines we do. Overview of Business Unit The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes. Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world’s most complex engineering challenges.
