Job Title: Advanced Apprentice Fabricator Location: Portsmouth Naval Base UK Salary: We offer a competitive salary with annual increases throughout the apprenticeship and a range of employee benefits including, free higher education as well as access to the Company pension and share saving scheme What you will be doing: During the Fabricator Advanced Apprenticeship, you will develop a range of different engineering skills and underpinning knowledge to successfully complete this apprenticeship. Throughout your Apprenticeship you will gain valuable experience working on maritime vessels which will culminate in you completing your End Point Assessment. The Fabricator Apprenticeship has a typical duration of 48 months, the first year of which, is spent in our Skills and Development Centre located in Portsmouth Naval Base. During the first 12 months of your programme you will undertake a range of practical engineering activities that are supported by our dedicated Engineering Skills Coaches. The Fabricator must comply with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements and you will be trusted to work both independently and as part of a team. On completion of the Apprenticeship you will be able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work that you undertake and will be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas to improve business processes A Fabricator will work from engineering drawings to develop patterns to enable the fabrication of components and assemblies to the required specification. The Fabricator will utilise a range of powered and non powered tools and equipment to include but not limited to guillotine, rollers, folding machines and drills. As a Fabricator will work on all types current Royal Navy Ships that are in upkeep or maintenance periods which will involve repairing and upgrading the ships structure, including manufacturing components for new additions.
