About the OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Advisor to support a RAAF Squadron. Reporting to our SHE Lead – Aerospace, you will partner with the Commonwealth and BAE’s F-35 Maintenance Facility team to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety requirements.

The role enhances safe production and regulatory compliance by implementing and embedding effective risk control strategies and management system frameworks. Working with management and frontline teams, the SHE Advisor builds capability, champions operational learning, and drives local improvements. The role focuses on core business processes and established hazard controls to maintain a safe and compliant work environment and inclusive culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the O+ Safety System.
• Engage with Program Enterprise stakeholders, including industry partners, to develop and implement risk management and prevention strategies.
• Facilitate WHS consultation, communication, cooperation, representation and issue resolution between industry, CASG and other Defence Groups and Services.
• Work within the Maintenance Quality Representative (MQR) to provide F35 WLM Precinct facility management.
• Model and promote a positive, inclusive, and proactive safety culture.
• Provide accurate, practical SHE advice as a trusted operational partner.
• Meet SHE performance targets through proactive risk and data‑driven actions.
• Support achievement and maintenance of ISO 45001 certifications.
• Operationalise the SHE strategy through the delivery of practical local initiatives.

About YOU

• Australian Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance (essential).
• Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline (Diploma preferred, Certificate IV minimum)
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience in a Defence / RAAF or aviation WHS environment would be advantageous
• Australian Institute of Health and Safety (AIHS) Certified OHS Practitioner.
• Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) Lead Investigator.
• Auditor in ISO 45001 and 14001 Management Systems.

Skills & Attributes

• Have a improvement and creative mindset to explore and problem solve matters.
• Ability to coach and train stakeholders on contemporary SHE practices.
• Ability to analyse and identify trends and patterns from SHE data.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effective with various stakeholders in differing occupation and portfolio sizes.
• Attention to detail in workplace operations, and in documents and records.
• IT literacy in Microsoft Office and SHE software.
