Role Description:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team within JORN Capability Line Of Buisness.
This role can be performed from either Adelaide or Melbourne.
The Lead Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the development, refinement, and improvement of products, components, electrical systems across cross-functional stream and teams.
You will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems and/ or equipment in accordance with contractual and Company requirements to achieve required business performance. This will involve the design, development and implementation of electrical systems and/ or equipment, including interconnection and integration related to the system and/ or equipment, installing and managing the system and/ or equipment against technical, schedule and cost goals
Core Duties:
- Analyse product performance and identify opportunities for improvement in functionality, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and quality
- Conduct engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, and drive design reviews of Electrical systems, sub-system and engineering cross-domain interfaces
- Investigate technical issues, root causes, and product failures, and implement corrective actions where required
- Support prototype builds, testing programs, and product verification and validation activities
- Develop electrical candidate solutions against requirements including their optimisation and present the solution in design reviews
- Undertake engineering activities within own competence without day-to-day guidance or supervision, including liaison with customers and suppliers as appropriate
About You
- Demonstrated experience within the Electrical engineering discipline
- Electrical engineering degree qualified, satisfying the requirements for membership of the institute of Engineers Australia
- Meets requirements for registration as Chartered Engineer and preferably be a member of a professional body
- Experience in developing electrical equipment designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of electrical/ electronic solutions, its integration, validation and qualification testing
- Ability to work with teams located in several Geographic location and occasional travel requirement interstate based on project/product needs
JORN – Jindalee Operational Radar Network
The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief and rescue operations
