MAIN OBJECTIVE OF JOB;

The Flying Operations Training Manager (FOTM) provides advice and guidance on a range of flying operations matters to a business or functional area to meet operational needs of line management and the business, in particular recruitment into flying operations tagged positions. 

 

Responsibilities:

·   The prime Flying Operations Directorate point of contact for all recruitment acitivities into flying operatsions tagged positions.

·  Provide development and function staff management through competency frameworks for all operations staff.

·   Deliver development plans and training needs analysis.

·   Develop ‘knowledge domain’ for function staff and provide the communication approach in support of this.

·   To provide aircrew training specialist advice and input to BAESSA projects.

·    To assist BAESSA Programmes on their aircrew recruitment commitments including market awareness.

·  The delivery of the role will typically be through the management of a small team of Professionals or is delivered as an individual contributor with subject matter expertise in a key Engineering discipline.

·  Provide a focal point for aircrew and operations staff training aspects of SBDCP and Salam projects.

·   Liaise with HQRSAF Directorate of Aircrew Training, MODSAP and Project staff on all BAESSA aircrew training issues.

·  Assist Head of Aircrew Training and Governance in ensuring BAESSA compliance with flying governance requirements.

·  Provide a robust communications link between BAESSA Programmes, Flying Operations Diorectorate and the bases on aircrew and operations staff training matters

·   Deliver aircrew and operations staff training subject matter expertise to BAESSA Operations personnel

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

·             Former military fighter Pilot senior officer with command, leadership experience. A seasoned leadership professional with proven experience of aircraft operations, including operational roles, weapon capabilities, simulators and training gained from 15+ years experience including a command role

·             Experienced in all aspects of Flying Governance and its application to the operational roles of Aircraft and Aircrew

·             Educated to degree level or equivalent with a good knowledge of military air operating procedures, strategies and tactics, gained from previous military experience

·             Good knowledge of fast jet air operations and aircrew training gained from experience in a military aircraft operations/training environment.

·             A working knowledge of aviation safety management.

·             Excellent communication skills, required to engage, motivate and develop team performance and successfully engage a multinational workforce.

·             Computer literate and a working knowledge of supported software packages, including Microsoft Office suite together with any other specialist packages necessary to fulfil the task.

Desirable:

·             Educated to Master’s degree level, or equivalent.

·             Experience and knowledge of RSAF practices and procedures preferably gained through at least 3 years’ involvement with a BAESSA programme/project.
