JOB PURPOSE 

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia.  We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The TSS Maintenance Team Lead works in a highly challenging yet equally rewarding environment playing a key role in generating aircraft for the RSAF customer. The role is therefore extremely high profile and involves interfacing with other departments and organisations such as Fleet Operations, Supply Chain Management and representatives within the RSAF. The position incumbent would be expected to deputise for their respective Maintenance Manager (GG12) in times of absence.

The position holder would be expected to use their extensive knowledge to drive complex maintenance issues through to fruition whilst also managing available resources and giving clear and strict adherence to rules, regulations and safety.

 

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

         Responsible for the generation of tornado aircraft / aircraft components within the Maintenance Organisation’s Approval, ensuring that sufficient resources are available to deliver the Tornado Support Services contractual commitments to the Customer.

          Lead a diverse team of maintenance personnel from different social backgrounds and technical trades.

          Responsible for implementing and encouraging effective and expedient Error Management Reporting, addressing safety concerns and failings immediately.

         Act as the focal point for their respective area-of-responsibility with regards to audits and take responsibility for addressing / rectifying all quality findings.

           Responsible for the management of personnel within their area-of-responsibility with specific references to:

 

o          Time and Attendance

o          Mandatory Training

o          Competencies and Authorisations

o          Saudi Council of Engineering membership

o          Leave Policies

 

           Responsible for monitoring the staffing levels within their area-of-responsibility, providing Age Extension applications, Succession Plans and Business Cases where necessary.

 

           Identify and enact opportunities to improve and enhance the delivery of the TSS service and encourage a Continuous Improvement culture.

 

 

 

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential

      Qualifications: A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA, OR Part 66 licensed (current or lapsed), or suitable equivalent technical license acceptable to M&CA.

           Excellent leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel.

          Has extensive post qualification practical maintenance experience within operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR experience on same aircraft type.

           This role requires some experience in a relevant management role.

           Business unit level awareness of circumstances outside the organisation.

           Saudi Council of Engineering registration.

           Have experienced working knowledge of EASA Part 145.

 

Desirable

           Broad BAESSA industry knowledge.

           An understanding of BAESSA engineering operating procedures.

           Working knowledge of Q-pulse, IMS and an understanding of M&CA processes.

           Completion of a recognised supervisory management course.

           Tornado Aircraft Systems Maintenance Course would be beneficial.
