About the opportunity
We currently have a new and rewarding opportunity for a Payroll Team Lead to join our Company, this role reports into the National Payroll & Compliance Manager – Finance. We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Lead to oversee our centralised payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes and the ability to manage a team effectively. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with applicable legislative and statutory requirements. The candidate will also provide advice to the business regarding industrial agreements, company directions, policies and procedures.
This role will be based out of our Edinburgh Parks, SA office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and co-ordinating the day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of accurate, high quality payroll services that meet deadlines
- Leading and mentoring the payroll team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and to ensure individual capability and development plans match current and future requirements
- Assisting in the responsibility for the preparation of all payroll activities including payroll payments, reports and forecasts, inclusive but not limited to all statutory reporting on a payroll basis, monthly or annual reporting
- Staying up to date with changes in payroll legislation and implement necessary updates to payroll procedures
- Assisting in ensuring compliance with all payroll-related financial and legal requirements, responsibilities and obligations
- Responsibility for the management of new or existing enterprise agreements in alignment with support from HR and ER teams
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and contribute to system enhancements
- Provision of general guidance to employees on policy or enterprise agreements
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience, 4+ years within a Payroll Team Lead role, team scope 4+ direct reports, >3000 employees
- Demonstrated experience in leading and developing a team of professionals within a generalist or service centre environment
- Analysing data to identify and improve customer experience
- Strong working knowledge of employee legislation, controls and compliance required in an application of and advisory capacity
- Experience in a complex or matrixed environment or a multination organisation preferred
- Exposure to Oracle Payroll (preferred) and multiple time capture systems
- Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside their immediate team, to implement business requirements, both in-house or virtual
- Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
