Job Title: Assistant Technical Authority – Power & Propulsion

Salary: Up to £58,500 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team to support the integration of Power & Propulsion equipment into overall ship design including:-
- Main Engines – Prime Movers and Power Generation
- Uptakes and Downtakes
- Gearbox and Clutch
- Shafting (including couplings, thrust blocks, seals and brakes)
- Steering Gear and Stabilisers
- Main Engines – Prime Movers and Power Generation
- Determine applicable engineering policies, regulations and standards to ensure these are correctly implemented within the requirements, design solution, verification and validation activities
- Undertake design appraisals to ensure that design artefacts are compliant with specifications, quality and technical standards; liaise with SME’s, vendors, and customer to address any issues identified
- Oversee the design review process including equipment, systems and compartment maturity
- Undertake Product Safety, Environmental, and Certification activities including the development of safety and certification submissions
- Carry out independent technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and down-selection of technical options. Prepare reports with recommendations to support the resolution of technical issues
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- A proven technical knowledge of marine systems with specific Power & Propulsion experience
- A comprehensive understanding of maritime standards and legislation with experience of working within safety, engineering and project governance processes
- Proven knowledge and experience of the full engineering product design lifecycle
Desirable:
- Experience of working within a highly regulated industry
- Experience of customer management and operating within a collaborative working environment

The Technical Authority team:
As an Assistant Technical Authority – Power & Propulsion you will be supporting the Technical Authority (TA) to assure the design, development and integration of Power & Propulsion sub-systems for the Canadian River Class Destroyer, management on pre review of P&P documents, working with delivery teams to develop & pre approve the documents, managing changes, reviewing supplier technical information, conformance/non-conformance.
