Senior English Language Teacher
Grade: 6
Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Naval Forces ships and train RSNF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their ships and equipment.
Manage teachers and cadets in the School of English at KFNA in accordance with school policies and procedures and undertake teaching, curriculum development and all administrative duties associated with the role
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The post holder is responsible for:
· Manage and provide guidance and support to English language teachers on lesson preparation and delivery
· Support, motivate and inform English language teachers in their delivery of the curriculum through meetings, observation of classes and daily discussion
· Provide active support to English teachers in the event of classroom disciplinary issues
· Contribute to the acquisition, allocation and maintenance of training materials including stationery in a timely fashion to meet the needs of the school curriculum
· Use the TMIS / LMIS system to maintain accurate, up to date, comprehensive, orderly and easily accessible training records
· Be aware of testing schedules and relay this information to their teachers
· Relay permitted information of relevance to their staff from senior meetings
· Raise reports on the performance of individual cadets, classes and staff as and when required in accordance with school policies and procedures
· Teach/cover classes as directed by management
· Undertake and deliver all mandatory and developmental training as required by the school and/or company
· Foster an environment that encourages independent learning and a military ethos
· Adhere to acceptable standards of professional behaviour, dress and performance as defined by company policy
· Counsel cadets on academic and disciplinary matters in accordance with school policies and procedures
· Ensure compliance with SHE policy and processes and duty of care responsibilities
· Provide feedback to management to improve service performance and responsiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
· Any other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate by the school and/or company
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
The post holder must have:
· A Bachelor (or higher) degree in English or related discipline and a postgraduate certificate in TEFL. E.g. Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL or equivalent
· Extensive recent experience in teaching English as a foreign or second language
· Proven recent experience in managing in an English as a foreign or second language environment
· Experience of managing a team of teachers on a day to day basis offering both professional and pastoral support
· Experience in materials design and development
· Ability to use multi-media in the delivery of a language curriculum
· Ability to constructively work within a management team to improve standards in the school
· Competence with computer software, particularly Microsoft Office suite
· Experience working in the Middle East desirable
· Experience working in a military environment desirable
· Experience of teacher training desirable
· Current IELTS examiner status desirable
