Salary: £40,748+ Dependent of skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide technical support to the Engineering Lead or Engineering Manager in delivering and managing comprehensive system design for Sonar Systems and Products for the Submarine Build Program
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the design process throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design to acceptance, installation, and integration
- Lead efforts in requirements definition, integration, verification and validation (V&V), architecture, and modelling
- Assist in developing and managing Combat Systems requirements and ensuring thorough verification
- Ensure design validation is well-documented, tracked in requirements management tools, and approved by the relevant authority
- Review supplier-produced documentation, ensuring it is correctly filed within the Document Management System and logged in the Project Register
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Background within a STEM subject
- HNC Qualification in a relevant subject area as minimum
- Proven ability to solve problems
- Extensive stakeholder management skills at all levels with the ability to influence
- Systems Engineering knowledge and experience

The Under Water Surveillance Systems Design team:
The team currently consists of approximately eight members, working closely in pairs or small groups. Regular meetings are held with various internal engineering teams across Integrated Combat Systems and other Submarine teams to foster collaboration. Frequent communication with the Platform Engineering team based in Barrow is also essential.
This is a fascinating field within submarine construction, covering a wide range of areas. One day might involve fitting components onto the vessel, while another could be dedicated to problem-solving or collaborating with suppliers on the design of new equipment. The work involves innovative, cutting-edge technology. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
